Welcome to the Official Blue Ridge Pottery Website! We are a family owned and operated business located in Stanardsville, Virginia. Our Stoneware Pottery is inspired by the vibrant colors of the Blue Ridge Mountains which come alive in each hand made piece with our original glazes and decorations. Our work is Microwave, Dishwasher, Oven-Safe, and Lead-Free.
Our Pottery Studio and Gift Shop are located along Virginia Route 33 and tucked quietly into the Blue Ridge, just outside the Shenandoah National Park, and minutes away from Virginia's Skyline Drive. Just a short drive from both Charlottesville and Harrisonburg, we welcome you to stop by our Gift Shop, take a tour of our Pottery Studio, and take a piece of the Blue Ridge home with you.
Here, in the reality of 2010-2011, we have returned to being a pottery which consists of one retiree part-time, with occasional help from younger bodies.
We are planning to continue production at a hobbyist level during 2010 and 2011.
We will be continuing limited production of items like wine goblets, plates, mugs, votive holders, soup bowls and desert bowls.
We are focusing our hand thrown work on larger pieces in late 2010 and into 2011. These will include bowls, casseroles, platters and vases. For more information about current work at Blue Ridge Pottery go to our face book page.
We are back experimenting with glazes again. I am also trying to fire on high energy days just after frontal passages. This has made for many more “one of” pieces in our inventory.
Over the years in this beautiful location in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Blue Ridge Pottery has broadened its base to include several other related businesses. These include our accommodation business, including five mountain properties, our wedding and event business at The Golden Horseshoe Inn, and a portable sawmill operation.
As we diversify and build more cabins for our accommodation business we will continue to offer our art and pottery at the Golden Horseshoe Inn site next to Shenandoah National Park.
In 2011 look for larger pieces of pottery, wall art and other creations by Norma, and specialty wood items made from recycled wood cut by our own mill.
